Following the birth of her daughter Izabel, Jo is now back to work full-time – welcome back Jo!
Simon presented a poster on his MPhil research into Carbonate Turbidites and their feasibility as hydrocarbon reservoirs at the 27th Meeting of the International Association of Sedimentologists in Alghero, Sardinia. This poster identified and discussed the sedimentological characteristics and processes of the Carbonate Turbidites found on the Island of Mallorca.

Simon completed his BSc in Geology and Geography from the University of Birmingham in 2008. He was employed as a consultant geologist by Cambridge Carbonates Ltd in 2008 where he has also been funded to carry out an MPhil at the University of Birmingham (Carbonate Turbidites: Their Characterisation and Feasibility as Hydrocarbon Reservoirs).

Core workshop on Zechstein collapse breccias of the Ardmore field (formerly Argyll) central North Sea.

Pete will present his work on the Zechstein reservoir of the re-activated Ardmore field of the central North Sea. Cores from two wells showing the sequence stratigraphy of the Zechstein and the characteristics and reservoir quality of karst and evaporite dissolution collapse brecciated dolomite will be demonstrated.

Cambridge Carbonates Ltd. and Scientific Press (J.P.G.) on the scheduled publication of the 'Petroleum Geology of Iraq' would like to invite you to our stand in the UK Pavillion, at Geo 2008 (March 3-5).
Cambridge Carbonates Ltd. will also be able to showcase their multiclient work and discuss more focussed use of their database on northern Arabia, including the report on the Petroleum Geology of Northern Iraq, plus a range of reservoir analysis techniques by application/use of Image Analysis.

Neil and Jo have been invited to participate in the “Statoil Research Summit” held in Statoil’s Trondheim offices. The Statoil Research Summit provides an open forum for invited prominent academic and industrial experts from around the World to discuss topical and emerging technologies of importance to the Oil Industry.

Jo travelled to the Isle of Arran to teach, 2nd year undergraduates from Durham University, detailed logging techniques in preparation for their mapping dissertations. They looked at the Devonian – Permian succession along the coast of Corrie, and were even blessed with nice weather!

March 2007 – CeREES: Durham University Centre for Research into Earth Energy Systems. Jo and Peter presented to the CeREES research group on the “Importance of Carbonates to the Hydrocarbon Industry” and then ran a fieldtrip looking at evaporite collapse breccias in the Sunderland area.

September 27-29 2006: “Carbonate Reservoir Prediction, Modelling and Stimulation”, conference, London, Sept 2006. Two presentations were given by CCL staff. Peter Gutteridge presented a case study on “Multiple karst systems in Cretaceous Apulian shelf carbonates of Gargano, southern Italy: Insights into the structure of karst reservoirs Karsted Lower Cretaceous”. Both Peter and Jo Garland facilitated a workshop on “accurate reservoir characterisation for reservoir modelling”.
