Image Analysis, Porosity and CL Studies
Ties Geology to Petrophysics and Assists Reservoir Modelling

Image Analysis (IA)
- Acquisition, pre-processing and supervised porosity classification
- Percentage porosity over a range of scales (SEM, optical microscopy, whole t-section, core, outcrop etc).
- Calibrated images generate real measurements for Pore Size Distributions (PSDs)
- Can be amalgamated yielding a Combined Pore Size Distribution
- 3D presentation of data for ease of sample comparison
- Pore Geometries for further comparison of reservoir samples
- Proportions of Matrix, Vug and Fracture porosity
- Technosyn 8200 Mk 5-1 automatic CL combined with Integrating Colour Camera (Low Light Sensitive).
- Nikon Eclipse LV100 petrological microscope for CL, PPL, XPL and Reflected Light microscopy
- Set-up suitable for a range of carbonates (limestone/dolomite) clastics (e.g. sandstones/arkoses)
Cathodoluminescence (CL) Analysis
- CL cement stratigraphy of reservoir formations
- Cross-cutting relationships of fracture fills allow relative fracture timing
- Combined with Fluid Inclusion data enables temperature of emplacement/reservoir fluid evolution
- Coupled with Microprobe element mapping enables identification of critical diagenetic changes
- Easy identification of stylolites and stylo-fractures
